The Soccer Intramural Experience

By Ryan Matta Almeida ‘26

Soccer intramurals was a pleasant experience that allowed everyone who participated including myself to become closer together and it gave us something to do after school through soccer. The system that was in place for intramural soccer included 4 teams, each team having a chance to play against everyone with 2 matches every week for 30 minutes. The point system was similar to real-life soccer teams with 3 points after a win, 1 point after a draw, and 0 points after a loss.

Fortunately, the team I played on remained undefeated with a clean sheet for 3 out of 4 games. Our very first game in intramurals was a chance for us to find our form and create a system that was perfect for us, snowballing into our consecutive clean sheets and keeping our undefeated record. Taking full advantage of intramurals and our subs we were able to win our final game with a comfortable 4-0 lead with 2 assists each by myself and my teammate to our main striker in the final 10 minutes of the game.

Even though some teams did worse than others, I can guarantee that everyone who was a part of soccer intramurals can say they definitely had fun and wish we could have played at least one more game.
